Sky Your Hand as Ugly

Sky Your Hand as Ugly

the sky I have deny me

water, crime and moons
could die a time can use
the furnace steam and sewers

I would rather have escaped me

blanket a marble staircase
red branch and hunger
locusts you remember

opening a cigarette
tense and plastic bliss
a subway loop of fingertips

drawal of pigeon broth
the jacket of summer
there’s not enough groundwater

I had, little girl,

charcoal and my gas lamp
coffee ran all hollow
make me go away

catch me kites
pulled down from the air
broken with a little slap

a swollen piece of rope
